Bao Shan Qu Development

上海宝山区田字房

Shanghai, China

In the heart of Shanghai's Bao Shan Qu's Park, a project emerges that pays homage to Chinese culture's essence through architecture. Inspired by the character '田‘ (tián) symbolizing a paddy field, the development integrates this symbol's form into its very structure.

Consisting of 12 buildings, the architecture embodies the paddy field's spirit, where different elements coexist harmoniously. Each building offers a mixed-use environment that seamlessly blends traditional charm with modern functionality. The '田‘ character serves as the primary structural grid, shaping the buildings and creating a cohesive architectural language.

Nature is seamlessly integrated into the development, with greenery enhancing the living experience. Vegetation is strategically placed throughout the area, providing visual relief and promoting a healthier environment. The narrow corridors between buildings are transformed into lush green pathways, connecting different areas of the development.

The project comprises two main building types of shop houses, along with a larger building for a museum. These structures, limited to three stories, prioritize a human scale, fostering a sense of community. The museum, in particular, serves as a cultural hub within the development, enriching the area's heritage.
